Ever so briefly

I'm sometimes a bit confused when people post chapters from books they're writing. Perhaps it's a departure from a style I've grown to like. I sometimes wonder why they're all of a sudden speaking in third person. I even sometimes read through them - present company excluded, of course - and think, "Um. Right. That's...interesting. Good try then! Carry on!" while being befuddled as to what they're trying to create.

So - only for as long as I can stand it without having to take it down - I thought I'd publish the most recently written chapter so you could all have a chuckle at my expense. It's really OK. I think my problem is that I'm starting to work on the book more and more, buying into the fact that it's so totally realistic and smart and funny. There are few faster ways to yank myself back to reality than to show someone what I've written and hear something like, "Um. Right. That's...interesting. Good try then! Carry on!"

This is a middle-ish chapter. If you're unfamiliar with the general story, I wrote it out with great drama starting here. I'm doing better, but am not completely past the feelings brought about by said situation. Otherwise I wouldn't be spending hours creating fictional scenarios that only make a point to me. Oh, and I'm stealing major sections from the blog throughout. So if you think you recognize a post, you're probably right. I'm already avoiding eye contact with all of you in anticipated embarrassment, but here we go.

Some Middle-ish Chapter
Despite the kind comments by sweet readers, I left it up as long as I could tolerate and got a bit more traffic than I expected. As soon as Little Cousin was asleep (I'm babysitting!), I power cycled the modem and router so I could get to the blog to get the chapter down. Don't feel too safe though - something will likely show up again.

The line - if you made it this far and feel the need to comment - is "Um. Right. That's...interesting. Good try then! Carry on!" And this is definitely coming down when I return from running errands.
