My mom was admitted to the hospital again on Friday morning. Aunt called me at 2AM and indicated they weren't sure what was causing the pain. At 6, she called to tell me Mom was bleeding internally and that I should come home. The dog, cat and I headed north. I dropped them off and proceeded to the hospital to meet my parents in recovery.
They believe they have stopped the bleeding in 2 places below the vena cava filter that was placed when I was home last. The double dose of blood thinners didn't do her any favors either, yet people are insistent that it "just happened" and is "nobody's fault." Regardless, she ended up with a pool of blood measuring approximately 13x9x7cm. So she's in pain from all the pressure. It is better now than when she was actively bleeding, but it seems to stay steadily uncomfortable (until the pain meds wear off and it's awful).
I've been at the hospital since Friday evening, just now coming back to home to take a quick break. Dad's been with my animals, but I left him at the hospital today so I could sleep more than an hour at a time (I do have a chair that folds flat and can sleep reasonably comfortably between trips to the bathroom with Mom, guarding her from overly-young ladies who'd like to chase down her veins with needles instead of calling someone better at it, calling for pills or stopping the beeping on her IV, getting ice (they finally showed me where the machine lived) and coaxing Mom to eat). So I'll nap, but I also wanted to send an explanation as to why I've been missing. Not reading or writing or doing much other than fussing over Mom and trying to sleep a bit.
I will look forward to catching up with all of you when this calms down. I hope that will be soon.

Oh, Katie :( I wondered if everything was okay, since you hadn't posted as regularly as usual. I will be thinking lots of good thoughts for your Mom.
Oh my goodness, your poor mother! I really hope she'll finally get a chance to recover quickly and painlessly.
oh katie, i am so sorry... you are all in my prayers.
My heart and thoughts are with you. I am glad your mom has you as an advocate - it can make such a difference in a person's level of care. Hugs - it seems we could both use one.
This is so awful. I'm sorry. I hope your mom starts doing/feeling better quickly, and that you are able to take breaks for yourself.
