A postcard-type update

OK, I caved under pressure and went out tonight. While it’s certainly not late, I am more than a little tipsy. I giggled at stories I’m quite sure weren’t funny. I lost track of time when I wanted to be showered and asleep so I'd be ready to hear one of the important lectures early tomorrow morning. I met newer students from my graduate institution, which is important, but failed to connect with my particular research group, which is slightly sad.

I have a story about my group - the people I love dearly and would support under any circumstances. Except when there's conflict within our happy little family and I struggle to understand where to put my support. It's a story I'd like to tell - for my sake more than any of yours (though I do enjoy entertaining you - I really do) so I can figure out what I think about this disturbing turn of events.

But it's a sensitive story - one that I can now acknowledge shouldn't be told when tipsy and tired. So perhaps tomorrow. In the meantime, if I were to send you a postcard, it would read something like...

Having a good time. Learning some, seeing a lot. Weather is perfect - cool and sunny (because I must mention weather on each postcard I send - it's all wrong otherwise). The shopping is great - the people are better. Then I'd say I miss you, but, well, I've been trying not to neglect the blog of late, so we're still good friends, right?

Glad to hear you're having a good time, and that the people are even better than the shopping. Weather isn't perfect here, so enjoy it while you can. Talk to you soon.

Wonderful pictures - they convey the real feel of downtown Seattle. Enjoy the people and the talks.
